“What are my rights as a Consumer in California?”
California’s Lemon Law affords the California consumer some of the strongest legal rights of any lemon law statute in the United States.
If you have a qualifying case, your rights include a repurchase of your purchased or leased vehicle (refund of your monies), as well as a payoff of any loan or lease balance. In some circumstances a new replacement vehicle can be chosen in lieu of a vehicle repurchase.
Your rights also include your not having to participate in “arbitration” or “dispute settlement” programs. There is no requirement in California to do this, as these “programs” are often funded by the auto manufacturer. Your lemon law rights allow you to go directly to us for legal representation, with the lemon law requiring the manufacturer to pay your attorneys billed fees and costs, providing the case is settled.
Your rights do not include loss of time, inconvenience, loss of wages, etc., in conjunction with a lemon law case.
